Inside the Total Consulting and Mentoring Collective – an interview with its founding mind

Total Consulting and Mentoring Collective

In a world where consulting firms are often built on frameworks and jargon, Total Consulting and Mentoring Collective LLP (TCMC) stands as a refreshing exception. Founded not in boardrooms, but in living rooms, and powered not just by experience but by empathy, TCMC is redefining what it means to serve, transform, and lead.

We sat down with the founding team to understand how TCMC is crafting a different kind of impact — one that feels as personal as it is professional.

Q1: Where did the name “Total Consulting and Mentoring Collective LLP (TCMC)” come from?

“Names have power. Ours came from the heart of our home,” shares the founder.

TCMC wasn’t just a business idea – it was a deeply intentional creation. During a brainstorming session at home, the founder’s 11-year-old son suggested the word “collective,” reflecting the founder’s own philosophy of shared purpose and collaboration. And that one word became the cornerstone of the brand’s identity: a trusted circle of coaches, consultants, trainers, and change-makers, enabling growth that is total – personal, professional, and purposeful.

Q2: What made you choose these four verticals as the cornerstone of TCMC?

The verticals – Consulting, Coaching & Mentoring, Training, and Branding & Storytelling – weren’t just strategic choices. They were lived.

Each arose from a gap the founder personally witnessed over a long career in leadership:

  • Consulting emerged from a need for grounded, jargon-free strategy.
  • Coaching & Mentoring for leaders seeking personal evolution, not just performance boosts.
  • Training to empower teams with transformative learning experiences.
  • Branding & Storytelling to articulate identity in an era where perception is power.

Together, they form a holistic ecosystem of change – tailored, intentional, and lasting.

Q3: How important is destination thinking or context in your business?

“Context is everything.”

At TCMC, strategy doesn’t begin with answers – it begins with immersion. Whether working with a startup founder or seasoned civil servant, the first step is to understand the journey, not just the job.

A shining example was the leadership program for newly promoted IDAS officers at NADFM, where even the training framework was custom-created using the acronym NADFM – a true testament to co-creation over cookie-cutter.

Q4: What are some unique ideas that make your work impactful?

At TCMC, insight meets intuition. They don’t believe in off-the-shelf solutions – they craft outcomes by:

  • Blending qualitative & quantitative research for data-rooted empathy.
  • Using a “Story First” branding approach that puts authenticity above aesthetics.
  • Applying principles from emotional intelligence, mindfulness, and neuroscience to business strategy.

“We shift mindsets, not just metrics. That’s our signature.”

Q5: How important is education in your industry?

“Education is our industry.”

Every offering at TCMC – be it a workshop, a strategy session, or a coaching engagement – is designed as a learning experience. Built on both academic insights and real-world wisdom, the team believes transformation is rooted in lifelong learning, not one-time training.

Q6: How has TCMC maintained its momentum?

In just one year, TCMC has worked with an impressive array of clients – from edtech startups and health-tech brands to government bodies and event companies.

“Momentum comes from clarity. We’ve never chased scale. We’ve chased meaningful movement.”

Each engagement is seen as a relationship – not a transaction. This mindset fuels not just energy, but loyalty.

Q7: What’s your favorite genre of work – and why?

Transitional leadership – hands down.

Whether helping a first-time manager, a scaling founder, or a culture-shifting organization, TCMC loves navigating the inflection points. Why? Because change isn’t just strategic – it’s emotional.

“To witness someone step into their fullest self? That’s the most fulfilling work there is.”

Q8: What strategies help you manage business stress?

For the founder, the answer lies in rituals of restoration:

  • Writing – A form of reflection that also birthed a soon-to-be-published book.
  • Prayer & spirituality – A grounding practice that reconnects with deeper purpose.
  • Golf – A space to breathe, reset, and practice presence.

TCMC’s philosophy is clear: true leadership begins with self-leadership.

Q9: How do you tackle engagement and bandwidth challenges in a content-driven world?

By choosing depth over noise.

TCMC doesn’t post to chase trends. Instead, they publish content rooted in lived experiences – leadership lessons, behind-the-scenes insights, or quiet moments from the founder’s writing desk or golf course.

“We’d rather be genuinely heard by a few than passively scrolled by many.”

Q10: Your advice to professionals entering this field?

“Lead with clarity and curiosity.”

Don’t rush to offer solutions. Listen deeply. Observe widely. Let your voice be shaped by experience and empathy.

And most importantly – serve with purpose. When your work is grounded in service, fulfillment follows.
